The University of Mediterranean Karpasia (UMK) was Founded in 2012 in Nicosia in close cooperation with Turkish Aviation Association. UMK intends to enhance quality of its education and to educate tolerant, confident and entrepreneurial individuals, equipped with world class professional knowledge, skills and competencies. The objective of the university is to have its students learn scientific knowledge by experimenting as well as testing and researching in addition to using that knowledge in their daily lives.
The University of Mediterranean Karpasia is located in Nicosia, the capital city of Northern Cyprus, in the close proximity to the city center.
Education programs of the university are accredited by the Council on High Education of Turkey (YOK) and the Ministry of Education of Turkey (YÖDAK). This means that educational programs and diplomas of the university will be recognized in other countries.
The university is proud of its highly professional professorial and teaching staff and care of the reputation of multinational and friendly community for students who live in Cyprus or arrive to study from all over the world.
In addition to the educational activities the university has established work on scientific research on a high level.
In order to develop independent thinking, comprehensive analysis and problem solving abilities in various fields of science and specialization, students of the university have direct contact with leading scientists and access to modern scientific research works. In September 2014 the University of Mediterranean Karpasia signed an agreement on establishment and development effective and mutually beneficial cooperation in educational, scientific and practical activities with Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation (Moscow, Russia). The main objective of this agreement is joint participation in the training of highly professional specialists with higher economic and engineering specialization. For implementation of the objectives of cooperation, both universities intend to use all the opportunities available, scientific, methodical and research materials, as well as information databases, software, and other available tools.

Admission of students is carried out three times in a year (October, February and July).
SCHOOL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES
The goal of the university is to develop language skills of the students as well as their personal, intellectual and social growth through computer mediated activities together with face-to-face instruction.
Depending on the score the student receives on the English placement test, they are placed in one of three levels: elementary, intermediate or advanced. Each module takes a total of 8 weeks to complete and after each successfully completed module, students move on to the next module until their English levels reach advanced level where they are ready to become students of their desired faculty.
If students receive a score less than 70 from the English placement test, they are required to study at English preparatory school. The aim of the courses is to prepare students for their faculties with the four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, together with grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
For each level, students are to take part in 20 hour lessons a week where they are to attend classes every day.
Annual tuition fee amounts to 3,300 USD for Bachelor’s programs and 4,290 USD for Master’s programs. All international students are awarded with 40% scholarship for 2015-2016 academic year.
If you have a brother or a sister studying in the university you will be granted a sibling scholarship of 10%.
Students can also apply for a scholarship if they have considerable academic achievements and outstanding performance.
Sport scholarships may be granted to students for success for achievements in the national sports.
