Meeting With The University Of The West Of Scotland Representatives in Cyprus in Lefkosha

12.01.2017

A new reputable educational institution has just recently opened in North Cyprus in the city of Lefkosa (Nicosia) - University of the West of Scotland.

The Management Centre of the Mediterranean has established a partnership with the University of the West of Scotland which allows students to study in Cyprus and earn a reputable degree.

The University is one of the largest modern universities in the UK and hit in the top 5% of universities worldwide in 2016 (according to the Times Higher Education).

Now UWS is glad to present its Master’s programmes in Northern Cyprus. A unique feature of the University is that its students, while living and studying in Northern Cyprus, has the opportunity to receive a quality English education and accredited all over the world diploma.

In the 2016/2017 academic year the University offers three graduate programmes:

  • Policy Analysis and Global Governance
  • Civil Society and Public Affairs
  • Creative media practice

Medium of instruction in all the programmes is English. Duration of the programme is just one year. The academic staff is made up of highly professional academics and practicing specialists, introductory lectures are generally held by professors coming from UWS. Moreover, some lectures are held by the invited guests - most often they are practitioners in the relevant field.

Following the English system, graduate programmes are divided into 3 semesters (trimester). In first two trimesters attendance is obligatory, and the last trimester student devotes to writing a thesis or creation of a project. During the programme students have the opportunity to combine it with internship in the relevant field and apply their knowledge in practice.

The university offers the opportunity to obtain scholarship on a competitive basis.

By the 2017/2018 academic year the University promises to open more university graduate programmes, for instance, Master of Public Administration and doctorate programmes (PHD).

We are grateful to the coordinator of the International Office of UWS in Cyprus  Gulnara Hodzhanepesova for the warm welcome and informational support.
